Teaching
Throughout her career, Maggie has combined teaching with her acting, writing and directing roles. She teaches acting classes and workshops based on the Meisner Technique, she has led workshops at the Rainbow Factory, Belfast, and has run short courses for the Lyric Theatre’s Creative Learning Programme.
Previously, she was a lecturer at Belfast Institute of Further & Higher Education (BIFHE, now Belfast Metropolitan College). During that time, she taught she taught on the BTEC and HND courses in Performance Arts; the GCSE Drama class and a Drama Class for adults with special needs. She was also a member of Actorshop, based at Stratford Theatre Royal, London E15, which toured schools in East London. Working on issues set by teachers and students of secondary schools and FE colleges, they would use improvisation and discussion to explore ways of approaching resolution.
Next semester, (January 2021), Maggie is looking forward to leading practical workshops with students at Queen’s University, Belfast, for the Solo Performance module led by Dr Kurt Taroff.
Maggie occasionally takes on one-to-one students – please get in touch for more details.
